Spoken Word Festival Warsaw

Warsaw was the setting, but it was also a discovery.

Participation in the Spoken Word Festival Warsaw She brought two of her own poems to an event featuring artists, languages, and very different ways of presenting the spoken word to an audience.

In the days leading up to and following the festival, there was time to walk around the city, meet other artists, and listen to intense, combative, and at times effusive Polish poetry. A word spoken in a country where the memory of war, destruction, and reconstruction remains etched in the city and its history.

Between performances, conversations, and unfamiliar streets, the journey gradually broadened the meaning of reciting a poem outside the place where it had been written.

The language might not have been the same. The urgency to speak was evident.
