POLARIS

A visceral performance in which physicality, words, and sound serve as vehicles for an intimate encounter with the hidden side of the self.

Polaris It's an original idea by Diogo Divagações and Tiago Abelho, developed with the support of the PAC – Santa Maria da Feira Municipal Cultural Support Program, and premiering in 2025 on the CIRAC – Recreation, Art, and Culture Circle.

Designed for a theater setting, this multidisciplinary performance invites the audience to immerse themselves in an intense sensory experience—one where you don’t just watch, but participate, feel, and are completely swept up in the moment.

Inspired by the existential and dystopian themes of Franz Kafka and George Orwell, Polaris It is a physical and sonic reflection on human polarities: light and shadow, control and freedom, positive and negative, collective and intimate.

A space where the barrier between the audience and the performers dissolves, and art ceases to be an object and becomes an event.

The play draws on a fusion of physical theater, Butoh dance, spoken poetry, and experimental sound design, creating an immersive environment where gesture, words, and sound serve as vehicles for catharsis. The proximity to the audience amplifies emotions, and the sense of discomfort leads to a truly immersive artistic experience.

Polaris It is a contemporary ritual, a sensory manifesto, a journey in which everyone present is a living embodiment of the narrative.
