Synopsis
The Word as Body It brings together workshops on writing, oral expression, and slam poetry, where words are explored—from the page to the voice and from the voice to the body.
Each workshop is tailored to the participants and the context, blending experience, listening, creation, and performance.
Text
A word never begins on the page.
It begins with the breath, with memory, with that which has not yet found a way to be expressed. Writing is also a physical act: the word is born of experience, finds its voice, and comes to life when it is spoken.
The Word as Body explores this intersection between writing, oral expression, and performance.
I don’t seek to teach a particular way of writing. I’m interested in creating the conditions for each participant to discover their own way of expressing themselves, without separating what they write from what they experience.
Creative Process
LISTEN
Build on each participant's experience.
WRITE
Explore memory, sensation, thought, and imagination through various writing exercises.
TO SAY
Experience rhythm, breath, silence, intention, and presence.
SHARE
Relate the word to the listener.
PERFORM
Discover what happens to the text when it leaves the page and meets the body.
Each group creates its own journey. No two workshops are alike.

Each workshop can give rise to texts, readings, performances, or moments of sharing, depending on the group and the duration of the process.
The outcome is not predetermined. What matters is the journey from finding a word to bringing it into the world.
